Advocate for Empathy: The Action Videos

On January 20, 2017, I embarked upon a project called The Action Videos. The project started as a response to the inauguration of President Donald J. Trump and the appointments and nominations of woefully inexperienced and unprepared cabinet members in his administration. Each day, as a small but meaningful act, I will tally a mark in dirt to count the days Trump has been in office, then tag the video with meaningful actions that can be taken in an attempt to maintain sanity, community, relationships and empathy during a very trying time in our history.

In the months leading up to the inauguration of President Trump, I grew increasingly discouraged because I simultaneously felt a duty to act and an inability to do so. While taking a tally and tagging it with an action is incredibly simple, I hope it encourages those on all sides to participate in the political process and to treat people representing a broad spectrum of views and convictions with decency and respect. Winning and losing no longer matters. We are in the same boat. It only moves forward if we're paddling together.
